Living with chronic pain can make the smallest task almost impossible which is why conserving your energy is so important. Learning how managing your energy levels can help you feel better and improve your quality of life despite chronic pain.

Energy in the Bank

Think of your stored energy as money in the bank. There is only so much you can spend before it runs out. Saving your energy for the most important tasks will help you accomplish what you need without exerting yourself on unnecessary tasks.

Tips for Conserving Energy:

Sitting
Standing requires energy to engage muscles in order to maintain balance. Complete tasks while sitting whenever possible.

Take a Break
Take breaks regularly to ensure you’re not overdoing it.

Rest
Don’t wait until you’re tired to rest. Rather than chasing the problem, prevent exhaust from happening in the first place.

Good Posture
Maintaining good posture places less stress on muscles and joints and prevents unnecessary pain.

Avoid Stress
Stress is exhausting for anyone, so those suffering from chronic pain should avoid unnecessary stress to prevent energy depletion.
